Hanging your Plaque
It couldn’t be simpler to install your plaque. Whether you have plasterboard or concrete walls, we’ve prepared some simple instructions below.
Is your display still sitting to one side waiting to be hung? Are you not quite sure where to put it or how to hang it?
Well no excuses…… your display is made to be displayed and here’s how its done!
What you’ll need:
- 1 X Drill, preferably a plug in drill with a “hammer drill” option
- 1 X Masonry drill bit
- 1 X Screw driver head/ screw driver
- 1 X Large screw, preferably at least 4 x 50.
- 1 X Wall plug/ drywall anchor (details below on how to choose the correct one)
- 1 x Measuring tape
The first thing you need to do is decide where you are putting your plaque. We’d suggest hanging it with the top of the plaque around 200 cm (79 inches) from the floor.
Once you’ve decided, you need to establish what kind of wall you are working with. Internal dividing walls tend to be made up from plasterboards nailed to rising timber frames called studs, while external walls tend to be solid brick or block. They are simple to tell apart; just knock on the wall. A hollow sound is likely plasterboard, while a more solid thud-like sound is more likely block or brick.
Plasterboard is easy to drill and you wont even need a hammer-drill, as a simple battery drill will work fine. We recommend using metal dry wall anchors like those pictured to the right.
When you buy your drywall anchor, find out the best size of drill bit to use with it. The ones pictured to the right are self drilling, meaning you won’t even need the drill bit.
Step 1. Mark your wall and drill it using the masonry bit
Step 2. Screw in your drywall anchor until it is flush with your wall
Step 3. Drive your screw, leaving approximately 10mm proud of the wall
Step 4. Place your display on the screw and make sure it is secure
Step 5. Hang your medal collection, take a step back and admire your handiwork!

For your concrete wall, you will need a masonry drill bit and a drill with hammer action. You can use a regular wall plug like the one shown. We recommend a brown wall plug with a 4 x 60 screw and a 5.5mm masonry drill bit.
Step 1: Mark your wall and drill using the masonry bit. Ensure your drill is set to hammer action and drill as deep as your screw is long.
Step 2: Insert your wall-plug until it is flush with your wall. A light tap with a hammer may help.
Step 3: Drive your screw, leaving approximately 10mm proud of the wall
Step 4: Place your display on the screw and make sure it is secure
Step 5: Hang your medal collection, take a step back and admire your handiwork!
